How to play G on recorder
Cover the thumb hole. Cover holes 1, 2 and 3. Leave holes 4, 5, 6 and 7 open.
G is written on the second line from the bottom. The fingering shown is for a soprano (descant) recorder with Baroque fingering.

Tips for a clean G
G is the last of the three first notes. Cover the thumb hole and the top three holes with your left hand. Your right thumb rests behind the recorder between holes 4 and 5, holding it steady.
This fingering is the same on Baroque and German recorders.
